Pakistan has never had a comprehensive government-funded cancer hospital. That changes with the Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research.
Built at Rs 72 billion in Valencia Town, Lahore, NSICT&R is Pakistan’s first complete public-sector cancer facility — a 915-bed institution that will bring surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, advanced diagnostics, palliative care, and hospice services under one roof, accessible to patients regardless of their ability to pay. Stage-III and Stage-IV cancer patients will receive free treatment here. The Cancer Care Clinic — the initial operational phase of the hospital — is already functional and treating patients.
To staff this institution properly, the Specialised Healthcare & Medical Education Department, Government of Punjab, has opened one of the largest single-batch healthcare recruitment drives in recent years: 207 vacancies across 67 post categories. Senior Consultants in Radiation Oncology, Medical Oncology, Gastroenterology, and Surgery. Junior Consultants. Medical Officers — 35 seats. Charge Nurses — 47 seats. Radiographers, CT Technologists, MRI Technologists, Pharmacists, Software Engineers, Finance Directors, IT Directors, and Health Physicists. The range is genuinely extraordinary.
These are contract-based positions. Applications must reach the SHME Department, Lahore, by Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 5:00 PM. This article covers every post category, eligibility requirements, the application process, and everything you need to know before submitting.

Pakistan has faced a severe shortage of cancer treatment facilities for decades. Most cancer patients in Punjab — and across the country — have had to rely on a handful of private hospitals with prohibitive costs, or overwhelmed oncology wards in general teaching hospitals that were never designed to be specialist cancer centres.
The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research changes this at an institutional scale. The Punjab government is constructing a 915-bed state-of-the-art institute for Rs 72 billion, and it will be Pakistan’s first complete government cancer hospital, with level-three and level-four cancer patients receiving free treatment.
The institute will integrate various treatment modalities, including surgery, chemotherapy, radiation therapy, and palliative care, providing patients with holistic and seamless care. The facility will also include hospice care, ensuring that patients with terminal illnesses receive compassionate and dignified care. Beyond treatment, the institute will serve as a community resource, offering education, outreach, and screening programs focused on cancer prevention and early detection.
The Nawaz Sharif Institute of Cancer Treatment and Research will also serve as a hub for research and innovation in cancer care. By bringing together clinicians, researchers, and scientists, the institute will facilitate groundbreaking discoveries, clinical trials, and the development of new therapies.
The Cancer Care Clinic — the initial operational phase — is already functional, treating patients with LINAC-based radiation therapy, advanced diagnostics, laboratory services, radiology, and surgery. The people hired in this 2026 recruitment cycle will be the founding clinical and administrative team of Pakistan’s most significant cancer healthcare institution.

FCPS/MD/FRCP-qualified oncology specialists — this is one of the rarest opportunities in Pakistan’s public healthcare sector. Senior Consultant posts in Medical Oncology, Radiation Oncology, and Paediatric Oncology are open, alongside multiple Junior Consultant seats. The age limit extends to 70 years for Senior Consultants — explicitly designed to attract Pakistan’s most experienced oncologists, including those currently working abroad who want to return and build something historic at home.
Nursing professionals — 47 Charge Nurse seats and 5 Head Nurse seats represent one of the largest single-batch nursing recruitments at a specialist hospital in Pakistan. BScN graduates with oncology, ICU, CCU, or OT speciality experience are the target profile. With an oncology-dedicated hospital as your workplace, the clinical learning and career development potential is exceptional.
Medical Officers — 35 seats across the hospital’s various departments. MBBS registered with PMDC, 2 years relevant experience, with residency/training completion preferred. This is the broadest opportunity in this advertisement for recently qualified doctors.
Allied health and imaging specialists — CT Technologists, MRI Technologists, Radiation Therapists, Sonologists, X-Ray Technologists, and the Mammography Technologist posts are all available. Experience with LINAC systems, Gamma Knife, SBRT, or brachytherapy is specifically called out as preferred — this is a facility with advanced radiation oncology technology that most hospitals in Pakistan simply do not have.
Health Physicists — 2 seats for Master’s in Physics graduates with 5 years of Medical Health Physicist experience in a hospital setting. This is a genuinely rare post in Pakistani healthcare advertising and will attract a narrow, specialised applicant pool.
