When a hospital establishes a dedicated Cancer Centre and installs a PET Scan/Cyclotron facility, it is investing in some of the most advanced diagnostic and treatment capabilities available in public healthcare. Both represent significant infrastructure milestones — and both require specialist medical faculty, clinical registrars, and medical officers who understand these modalities. Nishtar Medical University Multan is at exactly this point.
The Office of the Vice Chancellor has announced 41 contract positions across two projects: the newly established 100-bedded Cancer Centre (33 posts) and the newly established PET Scan & Cyclotron Machine facility (8 posts). The Cancer Centre needs Radiotherapy faculty (Professor, Associate Professor, Assistant Professor), Senior Registrars in Radiotherapy, Oncology, and Radiology, and a large cohort of Medical Officers and Women Medical Officers. The PET Scan facility needs Radiology faculty, a Senior Registrar, and Medical Officers.
These are contract appointments for 3 years or until a regular incumbent is posted — whichever comes earlier. The qualification standard follows HEC and PMDC/PMC criteria. Punjab domicile from any district is required. The application deadline is June 27, 2026, with interviews scheduled on specific dates in July 2026.

Nishtar Medical University Multan, formerly Nishtar Medical College, is one of Pakistan’s most established public medical institutions — serving the medical education and healthcare needs of southern Punjab for decades. Nishtar Hospital, the teaching hospital attached to the university, is one of the largest public hospitals in the country by patient volume.
The two projects driving this recruitment represent major expansions of Nishtar Hospital’s specialist capabilities:
The 100-bedded Cancer Centre is a dedicated oncology facility providing radiation therapy, medical oncology, and cancer surgery services to a population in southern Punjab that has historically had to travel to Lahore for advanced cancer treatment. The Centre’s Radiotherapy department requires faculty who can establish and lead a new academic radiotherapy programme — a genuinely significant responsibility.
The PET Scan & Cyclotron facility is among the most advanced nuclear medicine diagnostic tools available in Pakistan. A Cyclotron produces radiopharmaceuticals on-site for PET (Positron Emission Tomography) scanning — providing functional metabolic imaging essential for precise cancer staging, neurological assessment, and cardiology. This is not a standard radiology department — it requires specialists with nuclear medicine or advanced radiology training who understand PET scan image interpretation and radiopharmaceutical applications.
Post Level | Required Qualification | Experience Standard |
Professor (BPS-20) | MBBS + FCPS, MS, FRCS, MRCP, MD, Diplomate American Board, or equivalent in relevant specialty | Senior-level: teaching + clinical, including department leadership experience |
Associate Professor (BPS-19) | MBBS + relevant postgraduate speciality qualification as above | Mid-senior: teaching + clinical practice at associate level |
Assistant Professor (BPS-18) | MBBS + relevant postgraduate speciality qualification | Post-fellowship: teaching experience, clinical practice |
Senior Registrar (BPS-18) | MBBS + relevant postgraduate speciality training | Post-MBBS residency/registrar experience in relevant speciality |
Medical Officer / WMO (BPS-17) | MBBS recognised by PMDC/PMC + valid PMDC registration + minimum 1 year regular house job | House job completion only — fresh MBBS graduates are eligible |
All posts require PMDC/PMC-recognized qualifications. For Medical Officer posts, valid PMDC registration is explicitly stated as a mandatory requirement. Check your registration status at pmc.gov.pk before applying. An expired or pending registration disqualifies your application regardless of your MBBS result.
Compile attested copies of: MBBS certificate and transcripts, postgraduate degree/FCPS/MS/fellowship certificate (for faculty and Senior Registrar posts), PMDC/PMC registration certificate, Punjab domicile certificate, CNIC, experience certificates from all hospitals where you have worked, and 3–4 recent passport-size photographs. Prepare a professional CV highlighting your speciality, publications (for faculty posts), and relevant clinical experience.
Submit your complete application package in person or by courier to: Office of the Vice Chancellor, Nishtar Medical University, Multan. Government employees must submit through the proper channel with an NOC. Incomplete applications may be rejected. If sending from outside Multan, dispatch by June 23–24 to ensure arrival before June 27.
Each post has a specific interview date (July 13, 15, or 18). Attend only on your post’s designated date. Bring all original documents — the advertisement explicitly requires originals at interview. No TA/DA is admissible for the interview.
