• Radiotherapy faculty applicants — this specialisation is rare in Pakistan, and competition per seat is lower than general specialities. The Cancer Centre needs Professor, Associate Professor, and two Assistant Professor posts in Radiotherapy. Radiotherapy (Radiation Oncology) is a small speciality in Pakistan with a limited pool of FCPS or equivalent-qualified specialists. If you have a fellowship or equivalent qualification in Radiation Oncology, the competition for these faculty posts is significantly lower than for comparable positions in Medicine, Surgery, or general Radiology. Apply with a detailed academic CV emphasising any publications, clinical experience in radiation treatment planning, and teaching background.
• Senior Registrars in Oncology and Radiology — postgraduate training in the relevant speciality is the key requirement. The Senior Registrar posts (BPS-18) require MBBS plus relevant postgraduate speciality training. For Oncology (2 posts), this means FCPS Part 1 completion or equivalent oncology residency training. For Radiology (1 Cancer Centre + 1 PET Scan = 2 posts), FCPS Radiology Part 1 or equivalent is the standard. If you are in the middle of your postgraduate training, check the specific experience requirement in the HEC/PMC criteria for Senior Registrar designation before applying.
• PET Scan Assistant Professor of Radiology — nuclear medicine or PET-specific training is a major differentiator. The PET Scan facility is a specialised nuclear medicine diagnostic environment. A Radiology Assistant Professor being posted to PET Scan will ideally have some exposure to nuclear medicine, PET/CT interpretation, or molecular imaging. If your radiology training or fellowship included nuclear medicine rotations, PET scan reading experience, or oncological imaging, describe this specifically in your application. This distinguishes you from general radiologists applying for the same post.
• Medical Officer house job must be “regular” — confirm your house job documentation. The MO/WMO requirement specifically states “one year regular house job.” This means a formal, institutionally recognised house job at an accredited hospital — not an informal clinical attachment, locum placement, or private clinic work. Bring your house job completion certificate from the hospital where you completed your house job, showing the dates, department rotations, and institutional certification. If your house job was completed in stages at multiple hospitals, bring certificates from each institution.
• The 3-year contract may end earlier if a regular incumbent is posted — understand what this means. The advertisement states “03 years or till posting of a regular incumbent, whichever is earlier.” In Punjab government medical institutions, contract appointments are sometimes terminated before the 3-year period when the university completes regular recruitment for the same post, and a permanent appointee is posted. This is a known feature of public sector contract employment — consider it when evaluating the stability of these positions relative to your current employment situation.
• Female applicants have a higher age ceiling for BPS-18 posts — 53 years versus 50 years for males. For all BPS-18 posts (Assistant Professor and Senior Registrar), female candidates have an age limit of 25–53 years while male candidates are 25–50. This 3-year relaxation for female doctors reflects the Punjab government’s policy to encourage female medical faculty participation.
