Pakistan Navy has officially opened registrations for the Short Service Commission (SSC) Course 2026-B — one of the most respected and well-rounded career paths available for Pakistani graduates today. This is not your typical job listing. Joining the Pakistan Navy as a commissioned officer means a structured career, a competitive salary, housing, medical coverage, and the kind of professional development that most private-sector jobs simply cannot match.
What makes SSC 2026-B particularly significant is its sheer breadth. Whether you are an MBBS doctor, a software engineer, a lawyer, an educator, or a mechanical engineer, there is a branch in this commission designed specifically for your qualifications. Over 50 specialised roles across 9 branches are available, open to both male and female candidates, depending on branch specifications.
Registration runs from 10 May to 14 June 2026. This article covers everything you need to know — which branch is right for you, exactly how to apply, what to expect during the selection process, and practical tips to improve your chances of getting through.
The Short Service Commission is a way for civilians with professional degrees to enter the Pakistan Navy as commissioned officers without going through the Pakistan Naval Academy’s full long-course programme. SSC officers are commissioned directly into operational or specialist roles based on their academic background and field of expertise.
Upon selection, SSC officers are initially commissioned for a service tenure of approximately 5 years. Based on performance, conduct, and the Navy’s requirements, this commission can be extended or converted into a Permanent Commission (PC). Many SSC officers go on to build full 20–25-year naval careers starting from this entry point.
As an SSC officer, you will be commissioned at the rank of Sub-Lieutenant or Lieutenant, depending on your qualifications and experience. This is a gazetted officer rank —
equivalent to an ASP in the Police or a Captain in the Pakistan Army.

What Is the Selection Process? Step by Step
Getting commissioned into the Pakistan Navy is not a single-step process. Understanding the full pipeline helps you plan ahead rather than being surprised at each stage. Here is what the SSC selection process looks like from registration to commissioning:
Complete your registration at joinpaknavy.gov.pk. Fill in all personal, academic, and branch details accurately. Print your Registration Slip immediately after submission — it contains your roll number, test date, and venue.
This is a written exam conducted at your chosen Pakistan Navy Recruitment & Selection Centre (PNR&SC). It includes two parts: an Intelligence Test and an Academic Test relevant to your branch. Results are communicated via SMS and the official website.
Conducted at the same recruitment centre. Checks height, weight, eyesight, basic physical fitness, and absence of disqualifying medical conditions. This is not the final medical — it is an initial screening.
Navy officers conducted a brief interview at the recruitment centre. They assess communication skills, confidence, general knowledge, and motivation to join the Navy. Dress formally and be punctual.
This is a rigorous 4-day residential assessment conducted at Kohat. ISSB evaluates your psychological profile, leadership potential, problem-solving, and teamwork under pressure. This is the most challenging stage. Most Medical Specialist candidates undergo a separate Personality/Medical Board instead of full ISSB.
A comprehensive medical examination was conducted at a Military Medical Facility. More detailed than the preliminary check — includes ECG, blood work, eyesight tests, and physical endurance assessments.
Final selection is based on overall merit across all stages. Selected candidates receive an official joining letter with the reporting date and instructions.
All selected SSC officers (except some direct medical specialists) undergo a 6-month Basic Military Training course at the Pakistan Naval Academy in Karachi. Upon completion, you are formally commissioned as a Sub-Lieutenant or Lieutenant in the Pakistan Navy.
The entire application process is digital. There is no physical form, no postal submission, and no walk-in registration. Follow these steps carefully:
Open www.joinpaknavy.gov.pk in Google Chrome for best compatibility. Avoid applying during peak hours (12 pm–6 pm) — server traffic is highest then. Early morning or late night works best.
Navigate to the Online Registration section on the homepage. Select the advertisement link for Short Service Commission Course 2026-B to open the registration form.
Have the following ready before you start: Full name (exactly as on CNIC), CNIC number, date of birth, domicile information, complete educational history with percentage/CGPA, active mobile number, and email address. Enter everything accurately — discrepancies between your form and documents will cause rejection at the verification stage.
Scan and upload: passport-size photograph (blue background recommended), CNIC copy, all educational certificates (Matric through your final degree), domicile certificate, and any additional qualification certificates. Use JPEG or PNG format. Each file should be clear, properly cropped, and under 2MB.
Choose your preferred PNR&SC from the 20 available locations. This determines where your initial test and medical screening will happen. This selection is final and cannot be changed after submission. Choose based on where you can realistically travel on short notice.
Double-check every single field before submitting. After successful submission, the system generates your Registration Slip with your roll number, test date, and test time. Print at least two copies and keep them safely — this is your entry pass for the initial test.
Applications close 14 June 2026. Online registration only. No physical forms accepted.
