Not every police job is the same. A constable posting at a regular police station and a commando deployment at the Special Security Unit are entirely different professional experiences — and the SSU demands something most candidates lack: the physical capability, mental discipline, and institutional commitment to work in Pakistan’s premier urban counterterrorism force.
The Special Security Unit of Sindh Police has opened applications for its latest recruitment cycle, covering multiple categories — from the core tactical Commando positions (Police Constable Commando and Lady Police Constable Commando) to specialized roles in trainer cadre, fleet operations, medical support, and administrative functions. Salary packages reach up to Rs. 250,000 per month, reflecting the SSU’s commitment to market-competitive compensation for its specialized personnel.
What makes SSU different from a standard police recruitment is the multi-tier selection process. Written test, physical measurements, endurance run, psychological screening, interview panel, and medical clearance — each stage is a filter. The SSU strictly adheres to the policy of merit, transparency, non-discrimination, and fairness in the recruitment, taking all necessary steps from the advertisement of vacancies to the final selection.
If you are a Sindh domicile holder who is physically fit, disciplined, and serious about a career in law enforcement, read this article completely before filling out the form. The eligibility requirements here are specific and non-negotiable. Applying without meeting them wastes your time and the SSU’s.

These are the frontline enforcement roles. Tactical commandos are deployed for counterterrorism operations, VIP protection, and high-risk law enforcement missions. Age 18–28, Matric minimum, strict physical standards apply.
These positions are primarily for Retired NCOs, JCOs, or Commissioned Officers from the Pakistan Army, Navy, or Air Force. Ex-SSG (Special Services Group) or equivalent elite unit members receive direct preference. This category is not open to fresh civilian candidates.
Driver candidates must hold a valid Motor Car driving license at the time of application. Selected candidates must obtain an LTV license during the 3-year probation period. Physical standards for Driver Constable are identical to male tactical constable requirements.
Medical Officer requires MBBS with valid PMDC/PMC registration and minimum 3 years clinical experience — trauma or military environment experience preferred. Clerical posts require an Intermediate or Bachelor’s qualification with 30–40 WPM typing speed.
The SSU is not a regular police unit. Established on October 18, 2010, the SSU was initially tasked with safeguarding important personalities and vital installations. Its role has since expanded in response to evolving security challenges, combining security and counterterrorism functions with exceptional precision, accuracy, and professionalism.
Based at Hassan Square, Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Karachi, the SSU is one of the Sindh Police’s most specialized units, renowned for its distinctive operational capabilities. It is Pakistan’s first ISO-certified police unit — which means its processes, training standards, and recruitment procedures are validated against international management quality standards. That certification is not cosmetic; it reflects a genuinely structured institutional approach to personnel management and operations.
For a candidate considering SSU versus a regular police posting, the difference is significant. SSU commandos receive continuous tactical training throughout their service, deploy on high-risk operations, guard critical infrastructure and senior officials, and work in a unit that is equipped with modern tactical weapons, vehicles, and technology. The career pathway rewards performance rather than pure seniority — accelerated promotions based on operational merit are an institutional feature.
The flip side is that SSU service is demanding. The physical standards are real, the training is rigorous, and the operational environment carries genuine risk. This is not a posting for someone seeking a comfortable government desk job. It is for individuals with the discipline and physical capability to serve in one of Pakistan’s most operationally active law enforcement units.
